Gnome for the Holidays

I love gnomes and I am not sure exactly when or why this addiction came about.

They are supposedly mythical creatures with a diminutive spirit and are the protectors of the earth.  Many believe that gnomes can bring happiness and prosperity to their owners.  The bible describes the word gnome as the faculty of knowledge, mind, reason.  Well, I can use all the help I can get.  Although for me, the Lords word are where my hope, health and happiness come from.

Whatever the reason, I have them all over my home and they are just soooo stinking cute!  Well, perhaps they are so ugly that they are cute.  And they make me smile.

If you like them too, it stands to reason to make yourself a bundle of gnome cookie cups this holiday season and share the joy.

p.s.  If time is short, you can make these quicker by making them with store bought Brownie Bites rather than using the refrigerated sugar cookie dough.  Yum!

4 ingredient gnome cups are as cut as they are delicious!  A perfect dessert for your Christmas cookie exchange, a garden party or whenever you want a treat.

Ingredients:

1 Pkg Refrigerated Sugar Cookie Dough (I used the break apart kind)

24 oz White Frosting (About 2-3 tubes of prepared frosting)

24 Strawberries

24 Skittles (I used the pink ones from the Skittles Smoothie mix)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 and spray a mini muffin pan with cooking oil spray.  You can also use mini cupcake liners if you have them.
  2. Place one cookie in each muffin cup. You don’t need to flatten or roll them.
  3. Bake cookies for 20 minutes and place pan on a wire rack to cool.
  4. While the cookies are still warm, take a small scoop to gently press the cookies into a cup shape.
  5. Cool completely before removing from the pan.
  6. Wash strawberries and cut out the crowns in a V shape.
  7. Take a fully cooled cookie cup and pipe frosting into the cup. You want to e a little generous here.
  8. Then push a strawberry on top of the icing and add a pink candy nose just under the strawberry.
  9. Take a toothpick to spread some of the icing to create the white beard.
  10. Enjoy!

Notes:

Optional: Dip strawberries in candy melts to add a variety of colorful hats.
