Wrong Turns or Lessons Learned?

I recently wrote about the change of seasons in my life and the need to view the events from a different perspective.  See my post at https://www.lorettaschoen.com/2022/uncategorized/30259/the-signs-in-the-seasons/

A short time later I ran across this quote by Ann Patchett and it helped drill down on my view of life’s seemingly wrong turns.

“Just because things hadn’t gone the way I had planned

didn’t necessarily mean they had gone wrong.”

– Ann Patchett from her self-inspired essay “What Now?”

Ann Patchett is an author whose words offer hope to those who find themselves at a crossroads. She reminds us that our life is forever changing and not always as we have planned.  However, these seemingly annoying changes or detours can offer much in the way of lessons and sheer joy.

For me, I choose to seek God in those moments and believe that he will turn whatever horrible, terrible, no good and downright unsatisfactory moment for His ultimate good.  We need to turn to Him to find fulfillment and a willingness to accept wherever our road may take us.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

  –Jeremiah 29:11
