As I prepare for Thanksgiving this year, it is with a heavy heart that I think of the pain, suffering, and destruction that is taking place in the middle east. As my table runneth over with food, my home warm, inviting and filled with hugs, kisses, laughter and smiles; I think of the displaced and dead in Israeli and Palestinian people who have no such time. I have no words. I feel inadequate and not able to do anything in this impossible situation.
But I do have faith. Faith in a God that has given us miracles in the past and miracles of today and through Him I believe all things are possible. And I have prayer in words and in song.
For most of us have never experienced the holocaust that was and the one that is now taking place. May we never know the pain. But may we compassionately provide comfort to those that are.
This Thanksgiving, make it sweeter. Lift up words in prayer and in song for peace. Intentionally and mindfully taste that the turkey is more savory, the stuffing more filling, and the pumpkin and apple pies more sweeter than ever. Rather than avoid sitting next to a grumpy uncle, or ornery aunt, embrace them where they are at. Share the spirit of the Lord and count the blessings in the people that surround you.
May the peace that surpasses all understanding be with you today, tomorrow and always.
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. – Numbers 6:24-26 –
Happy Thanksgiving
Blessings for Health and Wellness,
