Fret, Dread or Rest in God

“Pity Party, table for one, please”. I have been stewing and brewing on how my body is falling apart.  I think my body parts have joined forces to see who can destroy my body or my brain first.

I am whining, groaning and moaning to God.  “Lord, really haven’t I had enough?  Now we have this heart issue again.  Been there done that.  Can we move on to something new?  Wait! Maybe I don’t want to move on to something new!  Better the devil you know, right?  Can we just make this disappear?  I mean frankly, enough is enough.  I am suppose to be the caregiver not the patient.  Work with me hear, Lord.  Do it my way.  We could use a miracle.  We haven’t had one in a while.  And why me? Why not someone else?

Folks – look around.  Everyone is having issues.  Everyone is having a “Why me” moment,  And frankly “Why not me?”  Why am I to be excluded?

I think not.

I recently did a study by Louie Giglio (Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table)  in which he prescribes 7 daily statements that help keep the fret and dread at bay.  It has helped calm my mind whenever Satan uses fear to lead me astray from God.

First and foremost, “I am a child of God” (Romans 8:16).

Isaiah 43:1 tells me “God knows me by name.”

“ And God goes before me” (Deuteronomy 31:8).

John 16:33 reminds me that “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

No weapon formed against me will prosper ( Isaiah 54:17)  for I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)

I need to fear not for He is there.  He is right beside me no matter what befalls me.

I know where God is leading me – right to eternity.  My present sufferings pale in comparison to the future glory that God has stored up for me in my life”  (Romans9:18)

Will you join me in putting your trust and faith in God?  The song Middle of a Miracle by Emerson Day says: “Don’t forget that with God all things are possible.  You can’t feel it but under your feet new roots are taking hold. Doesn’t matter if it’s broken or just ashes – there’s hope – you’re right in the middle of a miracle

So stop fretting, dreading and simply rest in the promises above.  For the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives in you (Ephesians 1:19-20).
