This is a great recipe anytime of the year but the colors remind me of the fall.
This recipe is healthy, tasty, and simple to make – even the grand kids like it.
INGREDIENTS
3 slices bacon, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 lb. Brussels sprouts, trimmed; halved
1 medium sweet apple, cut into 1-inch chunks
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
STEPS
- Preheat large sauté pan on medium 2-3 minutes. Add bacon; cook and stir 4-5 minutes or until crisp. Remove bacon from pan.
- Increase heat to medium-high. Add Brussels sprouts and apples; cook 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until Brussels sprouts are tender. Remove pan from heat. Stir in applesauce, salt, pepper, and bacon.
- I cook the Brussels sprouts a little before adding the apples as we like them cooked a little more. Your choice.
