The Other Side of a Season of Mayhem
We go through seasons in our lives when it feels like a torrential storm or a landslide where so many things are happening in every area of our lives that we can’t imagine how we will survive.
I wonder sometimes whether God is allowing these storms to occur to send us a message, to see the other side of the moment or season we are in. This may come through the events themselves or perhaps through other people.
Maybe we are doing too much and not enough time focusing on the work for the Lord. Maybe we are being asked to slow down but because we have so much to do, to be, we aren’t paying heed. Perhaps God allows illness, surgery, job loss, death of a family member to slow us down and turn towards him. Messages can come in many forms. It could be a child who begs their parent “Please Daddy, do you have to go on another business trip?” Believe me, there is nothing more powerful than that of a child’s prayers. We must ask ourselves “What’s God trying to teach me?” “What am I to learn from this season?”
We won’t see the other side to those moments until we stop, look, listen and spend time with God. Don’t let the torrential storms and landslides keep you from our Lord. Invite Him – the Storm Whisperer (Mark 4:37-39) into the storm. With Him you can withstand all types of weather through a deeper, stronger faith knowing that in our weakness, His grace is sufficient and His power made perfect (2 Corinthians 12:9)
In seasons of Joy – Savor them and give thanks
In seasons of Sadness – Seek to learn and lean on GodA
Are you in a season of mayhem? Think about the other side to that moment and the message God has for you. With God by your side, change course if need be to carry on, move forward, one step at a time.
