Do You Want to Bet?

I am not a betting person but when faced with two options I find myself wondering the odds of the simplest, safest, and most successful path.  For example, when I search my GPS for directions to a doctor’s office I like to see the different options to getting there.  When ordering something off of Amazon I like to see all my options and check the reviews before ordering.  When Thad hasn’t been able to tolerate a blood thinner without bleeding internally from his two shoulder surgeries; I wonder what other options he has.  Does he wait until his shoulder has healed some more and try again?  Does he have to live with shortness of breath due to blockages in his heart or does he become a candidate for a heart bypass?

Do I bet on which route GPS will take me?

Do I bet on Thad’s body to heal itself?

Do I bet on the doctors to know what is the correct method of treatment?

Perhaps all.  Perhaps none.

But I know a sure bet.  And that’s God.  I trust God.  With faith in God I am assured that no matter the circumstance He is with me to navigate and guide me on the right path.  With faith and dedication to His word, I begin to recognize God’s voice and trust to follow Him.

Regardless of the outcome – stent versus cardiac bypass, God is ever present.  He is behind Thad, beside him and ahead of him waiting for Thad to be with him every step of the way.

Do you have a fork in the road of your life?  Don’t know which way to go?  Sit a spell on the side of the road and lean into God’s word.  Ask him to direct your path.  Isaiah 30:21 tells us “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying ‘This is the way, walk in it’.”  God promises that we should not lose heart for though we may be outwardly wasting away, inwardly we are being renewed.  We must concentrate not on what is seen but what is unseen for the seen is temporary for the unseen is eternal (2 Cor 4:15-18).

Now that’s something I can bet on.
